Congratulations to the Formula Jedi Champions of 2011

Hytune Motorsport would like to congratulate Richard Mitcham for winning the Class A Jedi 2011 Championship and Nathan Wright for winning the  Class B Championship!!! An amazing season where both Championships were fought for right to the end of the season! Well deserved by both drivers and we hope to see another amazing performance in 2012!!

Blown away at Anglesey

Once again, the Hytune Motorsport team were out with the Formula Jedi Class, but with a slightly different twist. Nathan Wright could not race at Anglesey due to a stretched budget so we offered our services to Fraser and John of Jedi Racing. Between our modified team we had three cars to manage and push to victory, James Fletcher, Mike Fryatt and Jermery Pickard.

Things started off well for James. In race one, James   managed to get the jump on Richard Mitcham and pull out a comfortable lead. But   Mitcham was not to give up without a fight and even run himself out of road to reel Fletcher back in Mitcham managed to close onto the back of Fletcher and managed to make a pass on the last lap!

Race two was of a similar nature, Mitcham made a bad start which gave Fletcher the jump and again pull out a lead over the rest of the pack. But history was beginning to repeat itself, as Mitcham cleared the pack he then set to work on closing the gap on Fletcher.

The pitwall team of a Hytune/Jedi mixture was now a tense area, with many members starting to pace up and down praying that the race didnt go the same way as race one. Fletcher managed to keep the lead and on the last corner managed to keep the ever closing Mitcham behind to take the flag! Absolute stunning victory for Fletcher!

Club class was once again   dominated by another sponsored driver Michael Watton, taking both   pole positionns and winning both races. Mike Fryatt followed   Watton home to take a 2nd place.

Jermery Pickard had a good weekend as a newcomer to the Jedi series finishing both qualifying sessions and races. Jermery also   gets my praise for   one of the best saves from the weekend by coming towards the   pit wall sideways and managing to keep it out of the wall! Would of made our   afternoon a bit more   hectic! And we have never seen the white of someones eyes so   easily through a visor!!! Well done!

Overall the weekend went well.   The weather did try to do its worse which made   staying overnight on site rather intresting, but the combined efforts of Hytune   Motorsport and Formula Jedi   pushed the battles aside to make an outstanding combination of skill and effort! Big thanks   to Fraser and John for making us   feel so welcome and for the   amazing home cooked meals!!

Next up is Silverstone on the 22nd October!   Hope to see you all there!!!

Hytune Motorsport @ Teamsport Karting BOTB

Hytune entered a team into Teamsports Best of the best event at their Camberley circuit. The event turned out to be an entertaining night. unfortunately due to being handed an unfair penalty, our team dropped to eighth in the early stage of the race. But a strong team consisting of the Hytune team members and Hytune supported driver's, we managed to clawed our way back up the pack and finished in 2nd place overall. Overall a pleasant outing with only a few incidents! Big thanks to Tom Page, Darren Boorman, Ross Boorman, Malcom Boorman, Robert Shine and James Fletcher for their best efforts on track!!

Hytune Drivers Dominate at Rockingham

Hytune Motorsport were out for results at Rockingham last weekend in the Formula Jedi series, with wins in both classes. Both Class B races were won by Nathan Wright with newly recruited   Hytune driver Mike Watton taking second place in race 2 after a DNF in race one due to a diff issue. Big congratulations to Mike on a well deserved second place, as Mike's driving ability shone through on the last lap where he managed to   move up three   places to take the second place! In Class A,   James Fletcher took second   place   in race one and a well deserved win in race two! Top effort by all drivers and team! Next up is Anglesea on 24th - 25th September.

Cadwell Park 4th - 5th June 2011

Nathan Wright was once again out in the Formula Jedi series at Cadwell Park last weekend a team of sleepy eyes made the journey up on Friday morning for testing. On track the car was outstanding with Nathan managing to get the car around the circuit and incredible pace, even having the wheels leave the ground at 'mountain'! It appeared that Hytune Motorsport had set up the car just right for the conditions!

Qualifying on Saturday was on form once again placing the car above all the class 'B' cars and even a few class 'A's. But disaster struck on Race one, where on the grid Nathan's gear selector cable snapped while trying to select first gear making him unfortunately retire from the race before it had even started!

Sunday's qualifying was identical to Saturday's but with temperatures slightly lower and with more wind. Race two got underway but with an incident on the first lap causing a safety car to be deployed. Nathan was doing well to move up the pack and was closing up to midfield class 'A' cars. But unfortunately disaster struck again! It appeared that   Nathan's engine had let go, which led to a disappointing result of 2 DNF's for the round. We are yet to inspect the engine to see the extent of the damage!

Hytune Motorsport and Nathan did leave Cadwell on positive thoughts as the car proved to be a serious contender for the championship and even had many class 'A' cars worried!

Our thought are now on for Donnignton in July!

Oulton Park Jedi Race Meet 02/04/11

Nathan Wright, a driver sponsored and supported by Hytune Motorsport has his debut race meeting in his Jedi Class B car over the weekend. After a very long weekend, the results finally came. Nathan managed to get pole for the Class B cars, beating his closest rival by a few seconds! Unfortunatley in race one, Nathan had to retire due to a electrical fault on the car, This issue was easily fixed and in race two, the car was perfect, Nathan managed to match the pace of a midfield Class A car for most of the race, and won his class. Many congratulations to Nathan and his superior driving ability! Also big thanks to the rest of the Hytune Team, with the problems put in our path, we were able to deal with them with ease and keep the day moving! We also found out that Nathan managed to get his Class B car 1.8seconds  faster around the Oulton Park circuit than any other Class B car in 2 years! superb driving and superb setup!

Oulton Park Testing - Result

An uphill battle started the day testing at Oulton park, the Jedi had a fueling issue, though the problem was solved and we were able to simulate a full race distance to see how the car behaved. It gave Nathan crucial track time and all of us to see the cars potential! Next outing is Oulton Park again on 2nd April for Nathan's first race of the season! Again, all of us at Hytune Motorsport wish him all the best of luck!
